Citroen WRC charger, Sébastien Loeb has notched up his sixth straight WRC title in style at the Rally of Great Britain.
He went into the rally behind Ford pilot Mikko Hirvonen in the drivers’ standings, but another Loeb masterclass put pay to the Finnish driver’s hope of ending Loeb’s domination.
He’s taken six world championships, knocking Juha Kankkunen and Tommi Makinen – who had four titles apiece – off the top spot
But the figures only tell half the story when it comes to looking back at truly great drivers.
There’s no doubting Loeb’s titanic ability, but is he the driver you’ll remember more than any other? Colin McRae and Richard Burns were two kings of the sport in more recent years, but will we remember Loeb in the same way?
For me, it will always be Ari Vatenen caning a Peugeot 405 T16 up Pikes Peak – often one-handed – that stirs the soul.
But what about you?
